About the Role
We have a unique opportunity within our Organisational Development and Diversity division as the Indigenous Employment Coordinator. This pivotal role will be responsible for for the coordination and management of targeted employment schemes with a focus on the Indigenous Workforce Strategy within the University.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for establishing extensive community networks, support systems and programs to promote employment, development, and retention of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people within the University environment.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Supporting the identification of employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff within the University.
  • Facilitating the delivery and implementation of relevant actions within the current Indigenous Workforce Strategy (IWS), and associated actions within the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
  • Preparing detailed reports, briefing documents and/or presentations on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employment issues.
  • Working with the Recruitment team to plan and implement effective marketing campaigns which promote the recruitment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff and grow an employment pool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
  • Developing an approach to recognising achievements and successes of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff.

About You
As the successful candidate, identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and have a great connection of network within the community. You are able to build effective relationships and network, have great organizational skills and have demonstrated experience in leading collaborative projects.

Some of the key capabilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrated experience in applying principles of equity, diversity and social justice, and an understanding of how to implement change by raising awareness of these principles throughout the University.
  • Experience of planning and implementing an effective and professional marketing campaign for the creation of employment programs and development initiatives in the workplace which promote the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander staff.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Demonstrated skills in undertaking projects, a high level of organisational ability, and experience in managing a workload in a busy environment with conflicting demands.
