A key player in the global mining industry, our client, based in Sydney CBD, is seeking an Indirect Tax Specialist for a crucial role in their Tax team. Covering a 12 Month Contract, this global organisation holds a significant footprint in the mining and trading of diverse commodities, recognised for its commitment to excellence and its integral role in the resource sector. You will join a high-performing tax team, reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to reviews and audits by relevant authorities, such as the Australian Taxation Office.
- Inform management about new or proposed tax legislation, regulations, and rulings in areas, including GST, Payroll Tax, FBT, Excise, and Income Tax.Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly BAS/IAS for assigned GST Groups and individual companies.
- Act as a backup for weekly Excise returns for relevant group companies.Manage compliance under income tax and fringe benefits tax law for allocated asset groups and legal entities.
Experience:
- CPA, CA qualified, or Masters of Tax.
- 3-4 years of tax experience from top-tier firms or a relevant in-house organisation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships.
- Technical expertise in both indirect and direct tax.
- Enthusiasm and flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
