Tax Accountant - Tax Governance and Operations
A large financial organization with overseas branches in major cities around the world is currently seeking a Tax Accountant.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling income tax, transfer pricing, GST, and responding to ATO reviews, as well as participating in Combined Assurance Reviews (CAR). The ability to liaise with external consultants and effectively manage tax-related operations is also highly desirable.
Position: Full-time Permanent
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Sydney CBD with Hybrid Working Arrangement
Responsibilities: Tax and Accounting Matters:
Prepare necessary documents for tax applications and inspections
Update regulations regarding taxation and accounting, supported by external specialists
Oversee tax compliance and remedial activities, supported by Senior Manager (SM) and external specialists
Implement daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual operations related to accounting and taxation
Operate and manage the accounting system
Troubleshoot tax and accounting matters, advised by SM and external specialists
Support external audits and prepare financial statements
Risk Management:
Support liquidity risk management by calculating the company's cash flow
Update and improve cash flow sheets
Assist SM in managing other company risks
Budget Control (Management Accounting):
Prepare and monitor the expense budget plan
Prepare expense payments related to CRM
Prepare and improve monthly management accounting as necessary
Reporting to Authorities and the Parent Bank:
Prepare regulatory reports and submit them to authorities
Update regulatory requirements and manage the reporting system
Prepare regular reports for the parent bank
Handle inquiries from authorities and the parent bank
IT:
Develop and support data management that meets the company's business requirements
Assist SM with the company's IT needs
Other Responsibilities:
Educate and support junior staff
Update policies and procedures of CRM
Communicate and collaborate with other departments regarding troubleshooting and new business events
Assist SM with compliance matters
Support and back up other local staff, including those in other departments
Approve designated operations related to tax and accounting matters, reporting to authorities and the parent bank, and IT (data management)
Perform other duties as reasonably directed by the company
Skills and Background:
Experience: Working experience as a Tax Accountant
Preferred Experience: Handling income tax, transfer pricing, GST, responding to ATO reviews, and participating in Combined Assurance Reviews (CAR)
Additional Experience: Liaising with external consultants and managing tax-related operations
Industry Experience: Banking or financial organization experience preferred
Language Skills: Proficiency in Japanese is preferred but not mandatory due to reporting requirements to our Tokyo headquarters
