Job description

Working within Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) as a valued member of the team, this role is responsible for leading programs that drive the manufacturing industry by attracting and supporting school-aged young people into the sector. You will oversee program performance against project plans and schedules and actively assist in delivering strategies and priorities for a range of exciting programs.

What you will do

As a small, but growing organisation, a proactive, hands-on approach to get things done are essential requirements. You will professionally and personally exemplify integrity, excellence, and accountability; and champion the MSQ values. The key duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Design, implement and monitor a range of programs aimed at attracting school-aged young people into the manufacturing industry across Queensland.
  • Work with stakeholders (schools, employers, industry partners, trainees and apprentices) to ensure program requirements are being effectively delivered and are meeting desired program outcomes.
  • Provide credible advice to program partners, employers and stakeholders on all aspects of the programs, leverage opportunities, measure impact, and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Build strong networks and work closely with organisations and stakeholder groups including government departments, school networks and industry.
  • Collaborate with our events team to coordinate relevant event activities for the programs being managed.
  • Prepare briefing papers, reports, presentations, surveys, and engagement packs as required.
  • Continuously seek feedback and identify opportunities for improvement to ensure programs are fit for purpose.
What we are looking for

We will assess your suitability for this role by looking at what you’ve done previously - your knowledge, skills and experience, your potential for development, and your personal qualities. For this role, we will consider how well you demonstrate the capabilities critical to the performance of an Industry Engagement Manager, focussing on:

  • Experience, or a strong understanding of implementing targeted programs related to schools and industry related programs.
  • An understanding of programs currently in schools related to school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, industry program, VET in Schools, and mentoring programs.
  • High level of organisational and project/program management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to design, develop and monitor programs across multiple locations and networks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills with the ability to build lasting partnerships and connections.
  • Highly developed communication, influence, and negotiation skills to achieve program outcomes and meet timeframes.
  • Ability to identify and effectively manage risks and issues, and leverage opportunity.
  • Qualifications and direct experience in the education sector, program design, project management, stakeholder engagement or community engagement would be highly regarded.
