This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024.

The successful applicant will ideally have a love of books and be able to inspire students with a love of reading, create a welcoming atmosphere in the library and collaborate with other staff to promote reading throughout the school. A sound understanding of school library systems, processes and stocktakes in a primary school context would be highly regarded.

You will be required to administer library systems, ensuring library records are up to date, and library resources are maintained and processed so they are always accessible and available to students and staff. Your knowledge of using Oliver v5 is desirable. Your ability to manage and resolve school IT projects and issues will be highly regarded.

The personal qualities you bring to this role are crucial. You will ideally be collaborative, flexible, have a growth mindset, be solutions-focused, use initiative, and be able to adapt to ongoing change as the school grows over time.

The successful applicant may be required to assist with school public relations and marketing.

Highgate Primary School is a Kindergarten to Year 6 school. Our school was established in 1895 making it one of the oldest primary schools in Western Australia. It is situated in the suburb of Highgate, only 2 kilometres from the Central Business District (CBD). Being close to the CBD allows the students to easily access facilities such as the Museum, Art Gallery, Court House and Parliament House.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff and students.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spread sheets and word processing.
  • Ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the Internet and Electronic Mail.
  • Initiative and good organisational skills with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
