We have an exciting opportunity for a Information Management Officer to join our Georges River Council, based in Hurstville.
About The Role
Georges River Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Information Management Officer to join the Information Management (IM) Team. This role sits within our Information Management team which is one area of the overall Information Management Technology Department (IMT). We specialise in records management compliance and systems, archives and research and management of the EDMS and other Information Systems.
In this customer focused role you will provide the organisation with quality Information Management services managing the lifecycle of both electronic and paper records and archives to meet the requirements of the NSW State Records Act and standards as well as conducting research for information requests. High level experience using an EDMS including administering user security rights will also assist you in this role,
Our team contributions are vital to the achievement of Council’s vision and corporate goals by supporting the development and implementation of key Corporate Strategies, policies and procedures for systems.
What We Offer
- Permanent, Full-time - 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $76,264.60 to $88,364.17 per annum plus 11% superannuation dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate

The successful candidate will have
- Tertiary qualification in Records Management and/or experience working in an Information/Records Management environment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally as well as a high level of reading and comprehension of documents and correspondence
- Understanding of the functions of Local Government
- Understanding of records management principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience in archival procedures and processes, particularly sentencing, disposal and reference enquiries
- Knowledge of best practice standards and relevant legislation relating to records management such as the NSW State Records Act and Local Government Act.
- Demonstrated computer literacy to use and understand Council systems at a high level. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail are essential
Desirable
- Understanding of all relevant retention and disposal authorities for local government, or willingness to acquire same
- Experience using and digitising a paper-based filing system
- Administering user security in an EDMS
- Ability to train staff in records management principles or systems
- Current Drivers Licence
