The Information Management Section is a multi-disciplinary team that sits within the Chief Information Officer Division, in Canberra. The team is responsible for a range whole-of-department information governance and management policies, frameworks, and record keeping activities in accordance with the requirements of the National Archives of Australia. The team also provides mail services, technical support, training and enhancements for the department’s electronic document management and record keeping systems.
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role you will have a background in Information Management and record keeping in a government setting.
We are looking for people who can demonstrate the following:
- Experience in working with an Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) ideally with knowledge of Content Manager (TRIM).
- Experience with Information Management holdings, record classifications, sentencing and destruction.
- Ability to build and sustain positive, professional relationships at all levels within an organisation.
- Communicate effectively both written and orally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute new ideas, including the identification of opportunities to improve business processes.
- Apply judgement, knowledge and limited discretion when interpreting and applying instructions, guidelines, and procedures.
- Have an understanding or ability to build an understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks including the Archives Act 1983 and Building trust in the public record.
The successful applicant will:
- Provide advice and support on a range of Information Management matters.
- Undertake Information Management tasks and participate in projects such as record assessments, sentencing, digitisation and/or disposal of government records.
- Provide a high-quality customer focussed service by monitoring mailboxes and support queues and responding to customer enquiries in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the development of team procedures and assist with training when necessary.
- Flexibly support and undertake work across the team as required.
The following skills are desirable:
- Experience in a customer focussed support area.
- Experience in sentencing or other information/ records management processes.
- Demonstrated experience with Content Manager (TRIM).
- Experience with Australian Government record obligations and projects.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
