We do work that really matters
(DCJ) enables services to work better together to support everyone's right to access justice, support families, and strengthen/bolster the promotion of early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.
The Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) is a business unit within Department of Communities and Justice. BOCSAR is responsible for informing the public and government about emerging trends and patterns in crime and the criminal justice system. We do this by releasing statistical reports, publishing research reports, evaluating programs and policies, distributing ad hoc data requests and undertaking both simple and complex statistical and analytical investigations to improve understanding. BOCSAR also build and maintain many statistical databases covering crime, criminal courts, prison, youth detention and reoffending behaviour.
At BOCSAR we are committed to open information. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our information sharing and add value to justice statistics to aid understanding and encourage evidence-informed decisions.
