The Western Australia Police Force is seeking applications from serving, or previously serving, police officers who have attained the rank of:
- First class constable or Senior constable or equivalent in a compatible law enforcement environment
This Functional Promotion (FP) process will be used to fill this vacant position only and therefore, applicants will need to demonstrate how they meet the role specific job requirements as outlined in the attached Position Description (PD 1839).
Six (6) Promotion Selection Criteria (Non Commissioned Officer) and Specialist Essential and Desirable work-related requirements will be assessed at the shortlisting stage to determine suitability to proceed to further evaluation (interview stage).
Role of Work Unit:
The Police Technical Unit (PTU) provides technical assistance either by overt or covert means by gathering information on criminal investigations.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position contributes to Information System (IS) and Information Technology (IT) planning, implementation, management, and support for the Police Technical Unit (PTU) of the Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force).
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITES:
Applicants must state that they meet the below Specialist Pre-Requisites in their application:
Applicants must be: * Successful in obtaining and maintaining a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position.
- Either:
ii) A New Zealand citizen who is the holder of a special category visa within the meaning of the Migration Act 1958 (Commonwealth) and is authorised under that special category visa to work in Australia as a member.
Applicants may be required to complete a medical assessment, provision of identifying particulars and confirmation of bankruptcy search prior to appointment.
It is a requirement of this position that the recommended applicant undertakes a psychological assessment, and as an incumbent, agrees to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required.
Specialist Work Related Requirements:
Specialist Essential
- Holder of formal IT, Networking qualifications such as MSCE / Cisco CCNA or CCNP certificate or similar (context in which work related requirements will be applied):
- Scoping, planning, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing network systems, software and hardware. Maintaining and developing cybersecurity processes to protect PTU systems. Maintaining contemporary technical knowledge to identify opportunities to develop collection mechanisms
- Highly developed knowledge or skills in any of the specialist desirable as outlined in the Position Description (PD)
