Responsibilities:
A real endeavour, shaped by you
We have an opportunity with our Defence customer within Deployed-ICT for an Infrastructure / Hardware Engineer to join a new team and develop requirements for the refresh of the DIE system including service hardware, client hardware and server virtualisation.
To succeed in this endeavour, you will:
- Identify candidate hardware to meet the requirements
- Identify candidate Hypervisors to meet the virtualisation requirements
- Conduct an evaluation of the candidate hardware
- Provide an evaluation report on the hardware including recommendations
- Conduct an evaluation of the candidate virtualisation solutions
- Provide an evaluation report on the virtualisation including recommendations
- Deliver High Level Design for the following:
- Server Design
- Virtualisation Design
- Deliver a build guide for the following:
- Server Build
- Virtualisation Build
- Deliver an As Built As Configured template for each build
- Deliver the scripts required to build the server and virtualisation layer
- Oversee the deployment of the Server and Virtualisation in the DIE

Our work is highly complex and confidential, so there are some things you must have to fulfil this role:
- You must have and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
- Effective communication and analytical skills are required.
- An in-depth understanding of virtualisation technologies (ie HyperV, VMWare, Nutanix)
