Job description

  • Provide operational direction to the review and development of workplace Injury Management practices and procedures.

About the Role

Plan coordinate, review and develop Injury Management procedures and the policies and practices associated with case management practices to enhance the effectiveness of return-to-work strategies. Support the case management efforts of the team through assisting with complex Injury Management and quality checking of case manager outputs. Provide expert advice and guidance to resolve a range of Injury Management related issues and a variety of complex claims across multiple portfolios, including Uninsured Liabilities & Emergency Rescue Services Volunteers.

Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Injury Management Specialist you will:

. • Provide operational direction to the review and development of workplace Injury Management practices and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of return-to-work strategies.

• Provide advice and recommendations to management on Injury Management including any changes to treatment regimes that may hay have an impact on scheme costing.

• Develop and implement procedures relating to Injury Management including policy documentation, updating systems and monitoring effectiveness.

• Complete training for the team in relation to areas of need regarding Injury Management, policy implementation or legislative changes relating to Injury Management.

• Provide guidance, coaching and advice to a range of Case Managers to support development and ensure business objectives are met.

• Support the implementation of Injury Management review systems and programs to enhance return to work outcomes and to achieve business objectives.

• Foster and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of strategic programs to improve Injury Management.

• Lead, manage and implement projects to address specific elements of Injury Management to achieve project deliverables and contribute to achieving improved scheme outcomes.

• Engage with and foster key external relationships to ensure effective engagement with the icare business model.

• Develop and apply medical and health related strategies into a claim’s setting to enhance management outcomes.

• Interpret and apply regulations and guidelines as they relate to Injury Management and whole person impairment to ensure compliance and that the most effective approaches are adopted.

• Keep abreast of significant developments in Injury Management to ensure that potential impacts are anticipated and managed.

• Manage escalated telephone and written enquiries from insurers, workers, employers and providers to facilitate resolution.

• Review Whole Person Impairment claims including checking the quality of Independent Medical Examination reports to ensure assessments are completed in accordance with guidelines.

• Manage referral volumes for engaging External Case Managers and Workplace Rehabilitation Providers and maintain relationship with these providers to provide feedback on service quality.

• Escalate any external provider breaches in the service standards to the provider directly and to provider management or relevant team for follow up if action remains outstanding.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary level qualifications at degree level or higher in information technology, computer science, or equivalent
  • Experience in business process mapping, analysis, and improvement
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering business improvement through collaboration with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent stakeholder management and change management skills
  • A passion for finding innovative ways to deliver efficient and effective services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience at tailoring communications to audiences at different levels of the organisation
  • Experience in a continuous improvement / operational effectiveness role.
  • Highly developed strategic, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in any BPM tool
