Injury Prevention Specialist
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain Injury Prevention initiatives and activities
- Support safety, health, and wellbeing strategy, capability uplift and ways of improving safety across Sydney Water and partners.
- Fixed Term Role until April 2025
- Location – Parramatta (Hybrid working), with travel as required across Greater Sydney & Illawarra Region

About the role
The Injury Prevention Specialist develops and delivers an Injury Prevention strategy for Sydney Water. This role identifies opportunities to reduce the risk of injury to Sydney Water’s people and implements improvements. This role sets the strategic direction for injury management and rehabilitation, and is integral to Sydney Water’s injury management program, which promotes timely and effective return to work processes for injured employees.
The roles responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, implement and continuously review injury management and rehabilitation frameworks and systems. This includes defining key performance indicators, measuring outcomes to drive improved performance and cost effectiveness, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
- Provide advice and make recommendations to reduce Sydney Water’s cost of workers’ compensation claims.
- Develop and deliver an Injury Prevention and rehabilitation strategy to deliver high quality injury and rehabilitation support across Sydney Water. Ensure the strategy addresses desired business outcomes.
- Develop and maintain relevant policies and procedures which ensure a consistent and effective approach across Sydney Water.
- Review the effectiveness of Injury Prevention programs and highlight opportunities for improvement
- Ensure Injury Prevention programs meet relevant legislative and regulator standards.
- Coach and mentor relevant business units about legislative and regulator audit requirements.
- Developing and maintaining a strategy and process for the ongoing management of long term injury and illness cases
- Attend case reviews and provide strategic advice on case management to relevant colleagues in business
About you
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in working in an injury management role within a large complex organisation in a high-risk industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the development and implementation of injury management and rehabilitation frameworks and occupational services. This includes the development of methodologies for assessing their effectiveness and driving continuous improvement.
- Tertiary qualifications in allied health science or associated degree
- Construction “white card”
- Completion of the State Insurance Regulator Agency’s “Return to work coordination training” online course
- NSW Drivers Licence
- Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills at a senior level.
- Ability to implement policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex analytical projects.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
- Extensive experience/knowledge in management of work and non-work related injuries
