About the role
The Strategy and Research Division works collaboratively to support the development and delivery of WorkSafe's Strategy, with a focus on organisational alignment ensuring we have an enterprise view of progress. The Research team facilitates research and gathers evidence and insights to inform strategy development and guide the delivery of strategic initiatives, as well as evaluating outcomes
The Insights Specialist position provides both specific and aggregated insights and evidence to WorkSafe, informing strategies focused on harm reduction in Victorian workplaces and improving the experience of injured workers. This position provides expert advice and insights to internal and external stakeholders through gathered intelligence from multiple data sources and carries out complex analysis and synthesis to guide and influence decision making.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead enterprise-wide extraction and syntheses of strategic research insights, supporting active translation and application for a large portfolio of research projects. This includes providing advice on operational reporting, WorkSafe's KPI's and quality reporting.
- Subject matter expert in the delivery of complex analytical services including the design of statistical models/data capture systems and SME in research methods & evaluation to provide guidance and quality assurance on the statistical and practical interpretation of model outputs (eg trends, correlation analysis) that leads to quality evidence
- Lead WorkSafe's environmental and systematic scanning to critically analyse relevant literature for the business to keep up with global trends, identify emerging issues and provide enterprise-wide assessments to influence future strategies.
- Provide leadership and authoritative advice enterprise wide on how to creatively develop options to respond to requests for insights, identify possible data gaps and how these complex requests may be solved.

As an Insights Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting, analysing, and synthesizing data to uncover valuable insights that will inform strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for research, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to ground breaking research projects and make a real impact in the industry.
You will possess the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in a similar role, ideally within Research field
- Demonstrated sophisticated conceptual, technical and analytical skills and ability to critically appraise research, identify themes, concerns and develop insights.
- Inquisitive mind and proven ability to work through uncertainty, changing priorities and to undertake complex tasks.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills and ability to negotiate with and influence senior management, internal stakeholders and industry partners on next steps following on from understanding existing and new insights.
- Demonstrated application of qualitative, quantitative, and/or evaluative research skills including research design, data collection and analysis, applied in various research contexts including public sector organisations.
- Proven ability to translate research findings and extract knowledge and insights for use by decision makers of all levels in the business.
- Flexibility to work independently or collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Exemplary analytical, presentation and writing skills, strong attention to detail and superior interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Post graduate qualifications in a related discipline are highly desirable
