The Opportunity

The Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)Instructor is primarilyresponsible for reviewing, updating, delivering and evaluating RPAS training for staff and customers in Australia and overseas. From time to time the RPAS Instructor will also support the Flight Operations Team on domestic and international assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing training syllabuses, class rosters, students training records and courseware requirements.
  • Determining daily instructional needs / objectives and adjusting content and delivery as necessary.
  • Identifying and scheduling training resources to include facilities, hardware/equipment, and flight time availability.
  • Verifying that all resources and daily training content is compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements and maintenance standards.
  • Conducting classroom, practical, flight and simulation instruction and demonstrating maintenance procedures and practices in both formal and field environments.
  • Obtaining real-time student feedback and adjusting delivery to meet training objectives.
  • Assigning student work, administering informal student assessments, performing remedial instruction and completing daily student records and other required documentation.
  • Measuring student performance against established learning objectives and standards.
  • Obtaining student feedback and documenting outcomes and reviewing and/or submitting student records.
  • May administer written, oral, practical, flight and simulation student assessments.
  • May also develop training curriculum and materials.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and work experience as an Instructor.
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate.
  • Knowledge of RPAS to include air vehicle, ground segments (e.g., ground stations and mission plans) and supportability.
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes, tools, troubleshooting techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilise crew resource management, weight and balance calculations, navigation procedures, airspace, meteorology, air vehicle performance data, communication operations, flight planning, industry regulations, and operator skills.
  • Information Technology skills including application, hardware and networking.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and effective adaptation to varying interpersonal styles and norms across cultures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and productive customer relationships and address customer expectations.
  • Eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Possession of a valid Australian Open (Manual) Driver License.
  • Ability to operate in remote national and international locations.

Desirable

  • Either a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and have passed a CASA Instrument Rating Examination (IREX) or Instrument Rating qualification, in order to perform RPAS Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations.
  • Possession of a Diploma in Training Design and Development and/or experience as an Instructional Designer.
  • Possession of a ScanEagle or Integrator qualification.
