The role
Installation and Service Technician - Whiting Doors
This position will be based at our workshop in Altona on-site and involves:-
- Provide time critical service and repair of Whiting roll up doors, efficient and reliable manufacturing and installations that exceed Southern States’ and our customer’s expectations. This includes the following:-
- Manufacturing
- Maintenance
- Measurement
- Installation
- Repairs
- Ensure all work is completed in an appropriate time frame and strive for high quality and productivity.
- Be responsible for tools, consumables and spare parts.
- Attend to any special customer requirements.
- Recommend appropriate preventative maintenance to avoid damage.
- Provide feedback to Product Support Manager and/or National Sales Manager-Whiting Products on the progress of operational activities and the possibility of obstacles arising which may prevent the attainment of goals.
- Discuss with Product Support Manager and/or National Sales Manager-Whiting Products, suppliers and relevant third parties as necessary regarding schedules, status of completion of installations and technical or other problems in a prompt and timely manner.
- Complete job cards and time sheets at the end of each job and submit to the Product Support Manager in a timely fashion.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve processes and systems and strive for continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with staff, suppliers and customers.
- Work in a clean and organised environment.
- Work safely and abide by Southern State Group’s policies and procedures (and those of our customers if working off-site).
- 8:00 am start to 4.00 pm finish (Mon – Fri), plus the ability to work overtime as required.
- Perform all other tasks as required by Management.
Experience and Skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential
- Ability to work as a team member and with minimal supervision as required.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to use initiative.
- Willingness to participate in formal and informal training
- Neat presentation and professional attitude
- Self-motivated and punctual.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Current drivers licence.
