Carnac is recruiting for an Instrumentation and Control Engineerwho wants to showcase their I&C technical abilities on heavy mineral and chemical processing projects.
Good verbal and written communication skills are essential as you will:
- work with small multidisciplinary teams
- mentor graduate engineers on standards, worksheets, design calculations, software and requisitions
- act as project representative with vendors and clients.
It is expected that you will have a working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint to produce reports and presentations.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Perth head office in Myaree, 20 minutes south of the CBD.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics and instrumentation engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers (Australia).
- TÜV Certified Functional Safety Professional or Expert status is preferred.
Technical experience
- 3+ years’ experience in Instrumentation and Control Engineering with a major EPC or Consultant predominantly in Mineral processing, Mining or Oil & Gas Projects.
- Experience in Datasheets, Selection and Sizing of various instrumentation (Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature), Analysers, Actuated Valves, ESD Valves, Control Valves, Relief Valves, Angle Valves and Control Systems are mandatory.
- Knowledge of communications and telemetry will be an advantage.
- Experience with specifying and designing DCS and process control systems.
- Understanding of Instrumentation used in hazardous areas
- Knowledge of electrical systems for Instrumentation that includes cabling, tray, wiring methods and grounding.
- Experience in interface between control and electrical systems.
Reporting to the Lead I&C Engineer, responsibilities will include:
- Review and understand the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and inter-discipline requirements.
- Perform selection and screening, conceptual engineering and detailed design as per project specifications, design codes and standards.
- Plan, organise and direct all aspects of discipline engineering execution on the assigned project including scope, deliverables, schedule and manpower resources allocations.
- Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified.
- Maintain responsibility for progress and timely completion of design deliverables and activities.
- Review the drawings and documents prepared by other engineers and designers.
- Provide procurement engineering support including preparing and reviewing requisitions, technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and technical queries (TQs).
- Participate in technical audits on engineering deliverables and vendor /client documents.
- Maintain, monitor and promote quality control of I&C deliverables/output.
