About the Position
We are looking to welcome an Intake and Family Support Practitioner to triage the wellbeing, child protection and safety concerns of families referred into the Intensive Family Support program and provide information and advice.
- Maryborough position with flexibility to be based in Mackay, Fraser Coast or Rockhampton.
- 12-month, part time (0.7FTE 53.2h f/n) opportunity with possible extension.
- Level 4 under the SCHCADS award. Salary range is $82,046 - $88,288 plus superannuation.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Respond to and process referrals and referral enquiries in a timely, sensitive, and effective manner.
- Complete child protection risk assessments and domestic and Family violence risk screens.
- Maintain contact with families on the waitlist, re-prioritising risk assessments, and ensuring ethical management of the waitlist.
- Hold case work responsibility for a small number of families depending on capacity of position within the wider IFS team.

About You
- A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
- Professional registration (if required) and membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
- At least 2 years’ experience working within a child protection framework.
- The ability to build rapport quickly and respectfully over the phone and in person, with both referred clients and external stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.
Other Requirements
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
- Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.
