PRIMARY DETAIL

Join the Group Risk Department to manage the University's general insurance coverage program, claims and processes for managing insurable risks.

  • From $133,989 to $141,514 (HEW Level 9), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Full time fixed-term role until December 2024. Based at Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde.
  • High performing team. Hybrid working arrangement.

THE ROLE

Our Group Risk Department is seeking an experienced Insurance Manager to manage the University's general insurance program, claims and processes for managing insurable risks.

The role will:

  • Manage the University's general insurance portfolio.
  • Manage and complete annual insurance renewal information collection, consolidation data analysis, comparison, review and submission.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date renewal information and provide timely reports to the supervisor and other users.
  • Work closely with the University's insurance brokers to ensure a risk led placement in the general insurance market.
  • Provide a seamless end-to-end service to the University community on General insurance issues, enquiries, reporting and maintenance of data.
  • Review and update internal policies, procedures and guidelines on general insurance.
  • Provide timely and relevant contract insurance and indemnity clause review and advice.
  • Coordinate procurement of any additional insurance that may be required as approved by the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Manage the State Education Research Applications Process (SERAP) application indemnity approval by the Chief Risk Officer as required.
  • Lead the third-party contractor request for insurance variation applications for approval by the Chief Risk Officer as required.
  • Manage claims submissions including liaising with internal claimant parties and Legal team as required, notification and preparation of claim documentation, provision of underwriting information, and liaise with broker / insurers on their behalf to fully recover insurance benefits.
  • Evaluate and monitor claims without undue delay and within policy scope.
  • Maintain records within the University's software in a real time and run dashboard claim reports as required.
  • Contribute to the organisation of team building and social events for Group Risk.

About You

You will have 10+ years experience in insurance industry and have worked in a similar role as Insurance manager within a large organisation with complex risk and insurance requirement.

You are an excellent communicator and have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide high level of customer services in complex organisation and communicate with staff at all levels. You are also experienced in managing stakeholders on large insurance projects.

  • QF Diploma of General Insurance (or equivalent relevant to Australia)
  • Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) and Senior Associate professional membership of Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF)
  • Experience in a similar role within a large organisation with complex risk and insurance requirements.
  • Significant experience in effectively managing multiple stakeholders on large insurance projects.
  • Managing insurance portfolios and corresponding knowledge in premium assessments.
  • Proven experience in the management of Insurance Risk Assessments.
  • Providing information and reports to senior management.
  • Interpersonal skills and experience in providing high level customer service in a complex organisation and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Managing and prioritising workload to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet.

Desirable

  • Full membership of an Australian Insurance professional body or international equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience working within the tertiary education sector
  • This position requires a criminal record check.
