Alzheimer's Queensland (AQ) is one of Queensland's leading not-for-profit organisations helping maintain the quality of life for people diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers. AQ is a well-established leader in the aged care sector, with approximately 450 specially trained health staff.
AQ operates four residential care facilities, and five multi service respite centres. We also provide support and educational programs throughout Queensland along with various other community care services. AQ have a team of inhouse designers that deliver projects across all organisation’s sites. AQ are currently looking for an Interior Designer to join our team based at the head office in Upper Mt Gravatt for a maternity leave cover with potential extension.
Your Opportunity
You will be presented the opportunity to design for the elderly population and their families, to push the boundaries and question how people want to live, embracing all who wish to use the space. The role will be accountable for the design and execution of projects. AQ are passionate about creating homes where older people feel in control as well as valued, connected, and independent. The organisation aims to provide homelike environments which are socially engaging, exciting and achieve an enriched quality of life.
Key responsibilities
- Consulting with key organisation staff to determine improvements across the sites.
- Coordinating maintenance for various jobs
- Passion and ability to deliver design projects of various scale, must have a strong design focus.
- Preparing documentation drawings and schedules, including finishes selections
- Liaising with suppliers, sourcing goods and following up deliveries and co ordinating the installation
- Full FFE procurement, assisting and coordination of Furniture, Fixings, Equipment selections and placement of orders.
- Assisting with project photoshoots and styling spaces in preparation for the shoot
- Accountability for projects assigned and ability to see them through to completion.
- Managing multiple projects
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Collaboration and strong communication skills, working in a small team and within the broader organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Interior Design or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working in design and decoration projects.
- Excellent skills in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of BCA and relevant Australian Standards
- Obtain a National Police Check and hold a current Australian Opens Driver Licence
- Have strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Design, documentation and detail drawing skills.
- Strong time management and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks.
