About the role

Seeking an opportunity to utilise your analytical skills and have an eye for detail? An opportunity exists to take the next step in your career and become a key member of our Global Internal Audit team based at our HQ in Booragoon.

Alcoa's Internal Audit Department provides the business with an objective and professional evaluation of the internal control systems, with recommendations made to improve the internal control environment, business processes and the economical use of the company's resources.

As an Audit Supervisor within the Finance and Business Processes Internal Audit team, you will gain extensive exposure to Alcoa's broader business. This will include insight into the company's financial philosophies and practices which will guide your professional career development. In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and executing annual audit plan, including SOX audits and facilitating recommendations through written and verbal communication.

  • Act as a key regional lead with the company's external auditor to ensure the organisation's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements are fulfilled.

  • Effectively develop an understanding of businesses/ functions to objectively assess controls and provide guidance on technical accounting issues.

  • Transferring knowledge in the form of suggestions to improve the internal controls environment and support other departments with meeting good compliance standards.

  • Coach, develop and train junior team members, including special auditors.

  • Facilitate good collaboration with key stakeholders building trust and engagement and to strengthen customer relationships

  • Work across multiple regions, different businesses, cultures, languages, local practices and regulations as a member of the global Internal Audit department,

  • Work with the global audit team to transfer best practices in auditing and work on alignment of audits across the different regions

  • Developing or modifying audit work programs as required and frequently providing functional guidance and direction when required.

  • Traveling between our Australian sites, with opportunity to explore Alcoa's global operations including Europe, Asia and the Americas to conduct audits.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in the Commerce/Business field, ideally majoring in Accounting/Finance.

  • Professional certification as a Charted Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant will be highly desirable.

  • Strong background in either internal or external audit (or equivalent related Alcoa experience).

  • Excellent communication skills and highly customer focused with an ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of management.

  • Your ability to lead and coach teams is essential as you lead audits throughout the organisation.

  • A pro-active work approach balancing priorities effectively whilst having sound decision-making and thriving when it comes to working to tight deadlines.

  • An analytical mindset, you are a creative problem solver and delivers credible advice.

  • Proficiency in business-related computing applications, where Oracle/SAP experience will be considered desirably.
