About the Role
The Internal Auditor role will assist with the implementation and achievement of activities under the DTP annual Strategic Internal Audit Plan and will support the activities of the Independent Audit Branch. The Internal Auditor will assist with performance of internal audit projects including monitoring and follow-up of audit recommendations and actions.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
The ideal candidate for the position should possess demonstrated work experience in both accounting and auditing, along with an understanding of accounting and auditing standards. They should also be familiar with the Institute of Internal Auditors - International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF),the Standing Directions under the Financial Management Act as well as the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework.
Proven data analysis and auditing skills, coupled with a knack for problem-solving, are essential. The candidate should exhibit a proven ability to offer advice on audit, risk, and internal control matters, as well as adeptness in identifying, evaluating risks, internal controls, and formulating value-added recommendations.
Key accountabilities include:
- Assist with the performance of internal audit projects across the Department.
- Apply DTP's internal audit methodology by implementing a risk-based approach to audit planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow up activities.
- Provide assistance and support to the internal audit team and work collaboratively with internal audit service providers.
- Assist with the preparation of high-quality internal audit reports and briefings which add value to the business.
- Maintain relationships with key business areas and provide internal audit support services as required.
- Implement audit action monitoring/reporting activities and liaise with divisional audit contact points to ensure requirements are met.
- Provide support across the Governance & Portfolio Services Division as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- A tertiary qualification in accounting, auditing or related field.
Desirable
- Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia.
- CA/CPA/CIA/CISA (or equivalent) or in the process of completing.
- Internal audit experience within the public sector.
