Irrigation Assistant

Located in Stanthorpe, Queensland, our farm is a large-scale supplier to the Australian supermarkets and wholesalers. Already one of the largest protected cropping strawberry growers in mainland Australia, we are currently going through a massive growth period and are looking to expand our team.  We are currently seeking two qualified Irrigation Assistants. The salary offered is $70,000 per annum plus superannuation. The applicant should have at least a relevant Certificate II or 2 years of full-time work experience (at least 38 hours per week) at a primary producer, ideally in irrigation work. The applicant must be prepared to work on-site in regional Australia. 

The Irrigation Assistants will be responsible for the following tasks: 

• Provide support to Irrigationist
• Assist with the application of fertiliser through fertigation systems
• Determine and schedule irrigations based on weather conditions 
• Irrigate crops as required 
• Assess moisture on a daily basis by undertaking crop inspections 
• Assist in design and implementation of the irrigation program 
• Install irrigation systems 
• Maintain pumping systems for irrigation 
• Daily maintenance of irrigation systems 
• Completing general tasks assisting others as required 
• Participate in staff development as requested or required 
• Inspect and report any maintenance required
• Perform irrigation related labour including repairing valves, digging trenches, and replacing poly pipe

The successful candidates will:

• Have demonstrated experience of using irrigation systems (even better if it is Priva systems)
• Possess excellent problem solving abilities
• Work well in a small team and on their own
• Have strong communication skills
• Take a detail oriented approach to collecting and reporting data
• Be computer literate
• Be physically fit enough to complete irrigation labouring tasks
