Full Time Fixed Term Position

Band 7 - Salary Range $103,521 - $115,711 per annum + 11% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience

The Opportunity

The Information Technology department contributes to this vision by transforming Melton City Council service delivery to achieve operational excellence, build community trust and enhance citizen experience when engaging with council services.

As the IT Asset Officer, you will be responsible to develop and maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory system for all IT assets, ensuring effective tracking & utilisation from acquisition to disposal. Develop policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines, working collaboratively with business areas to embed the asset management strategy into the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with procurement teams to facilitate the acquisition of IT assets, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints, quality standards, and compliance with organisational policies also participate in the development of policy.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimise asset usage, minimise downtime, and maximize the value of IT investments.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with IT vendors and suppliers. Negotiate contracts, manage service level agreements (SLAs), and stay informed about industry trends to make informed recommendations for asset-related improvements.
  • Analyse IT asset-related expenditures and recommend cost optimisation strategies identifying opportunities for consolidation, standardisation, and efficiency improvements to achieve optimal resource utilisation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with several years of subsequent relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Foundation level certificate in ITIL.
  • Experience in working with vendors for procurement, maintenance, and support of IT assets.
  • Experience in managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to disposal, including knowledge of sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA IT Asset Management (CITAM), or Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) may be beneficial.
  • Current valid Victorian Drivers Licence
