We are looking for a full-time experienced engineer to work 38 hours per week (plus additional weekend work where required), facilitating the design, creation, testing and optimisation of custom battery storage systems, inclusive of auto-electrical and electric vehicle applications. Our ideal candidate will not only have the requisite experience creating custom battery storage solutions from scratch, but will also have the requisite Information Technology (IT) experience to support the myriad of auxiliary communication methodologies used in diagnosing, communication, optimisation and testing battery storage systems. Besides physical stamina, you should also be willing to work in a variety of workshop conditions, as well as the outdoors. You should also have a high degree of problem-solving skills, be a critical thinker, have knowledge of the required tools and equipment used in the creation and maintenance of battery storage systems, and maintain rigorous safety standards to ensure standards for safety of product output, as well as within the working environment.

IT Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

• ·         Design, create, test and optimise battery storage systems for custom applications
• ·         Building rigid, electric vehicle storage systems for off-road application
• ·         Liaise with International and National suppliers and manufacturers on component requirements
• ·         Remain current on emerging battery storage systems technologies and safety standards
• ·         Detailed and process-oriented approach to product design and production
• ·         Technical documentation creation and maintenance
• ·         Drafting plans, line management & quality control
• ·         Management of staff in a technical environment

IT Engineer Requirements and Qualifications

• ·         Postgraduate Degree in Engineering, IT or Information Systems (required)
• ·         Minimum of 5-years of Linux experience (required)
• ·         Linux Engineering certification (LPIC/UCP/RHCE)
• ·         Use Case (UC) Modelling and Design (preferred)
• ·         Knowledge and experience working with Victron, Projecta, Enerdrive and Redarc inverter systems (preferred)
• ·         Knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• ·         Knowledge of solar generation and PV/PWM/MPPT technologies
• ·         Knowledge of serial (RS232), RS485 and ModbusTCP-type systems for CAN/BUS battery communication
• ·         Knowledge and experience working with different battery cell types (preferred)
• ·         Knowledge and experience with different conductivity materials (required)
• ·         Knowledge and experience with different battery chemistries (required)
• ·         Knowledge and experience with car audio and entertainment systems (preferred)
• ·         Direct Current (DC) electrical knowledge and experience
• ·         Alternating Current (AC) electrical knowledge
• ·         Project Management experience
• ·         Management experience (preferred)
• ·         Physical stamina and technical prowess
• ·         Electric vehicle battery storage experience (including rigidity design for accidents)
