A leading and crucial Federal Government organisation with operations throughout Australia is seeking an IT Support Engineer in Townsville to support those undertaking crucial government research. This will see you deploy, support and manage this organisations ever growing list of IT systems and assets!
Your new role
Established many years ago, this organisation has deep ties to entities throughout Australia (both private and governmental) due to both their educational and corporate partnerships. Not limited to just these (and the many employment opportunities the organisation brings), the significant research conducted at their many sites aim to change the lives of people for the better.
Your newly created role here will see you work within a highly skilled and multi-disciplined IT Services Team (as part of the wider IT Support Directorate). This team are responsible for the creation, deployment, management and support of all hardware, infrastructure, networks and systems used by thousands throughout the organisation across its many geographical dispersed sites. These include (but are not limited to) AV equipment, virtual machines, IoT devices, mobile equipment, desktop hardware, Wi-Fi infrastructure and laptops (among others).
Within this team you will have a focus on supporting the technologies in use and ensuring their continual 24/7 operation. This can include Level 1, 2 and 3 technical support alongside project focused work. Examples of these projects can be Cisco network hardware refreshes, upgrading purpose built on prem data centres, virtualisation maintenance (VMware/vCenter), Windows Server deployments and resolving Windows 10 tickets to name a few.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need experience across as much of the following as possible:
- The Microsoft eco system - e.g. Windows Servers and Desktop OS (such as Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, Windows 10, etc), Microsoft 365, SCCM, 365, etc
- Configuration of networking/infrastructure platforms (Switches, Routers, Access Points, etc)
- Hardware (Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Devices etc) maintenance and deployment/rollouts
- Virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V and VMWare
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Technical mindset
- Working with stakeholders at all levels
- Perfect communication skills (written and verbal)
NOTE:
- Australian citizenship is required
- Applicants need to be currently residing in Australia (those outside of Australia will not be considered for this position)
What you'll get in return
You will be offered an initial 12 month contract with a leading and crucial Federal Government organisation in Townsville paying $45.00 + super per hour.
Note: Remote work is not available for this position
