About You

We are looking for someone who would consider themselves an expert in general business IT, Networking, Cybersecurity, and is also keen to think outside the box and can work with a high-tech company that likes to push the boundaries of technology. You will be someone who loves to continually learn about new solutions and stay up to date on the latest advancements in the industry. 

We need someone to embed themselves within the organisation to fully understand the needs of all our business entities and employees in order to design, recommend, and maintain suitable solutions that can provide a high level of security and reliability.While IT Systems Manager would be your primary role, there would also be a requirement to be involved in some of our projects from time to time if your expertise is required. There would also be a requirement to manage future staff or 3rd party service providers to assist you where and when required. Particularly for the first 6-12 months of the role where we engage 3rd parties to provide security audits and utilise their resources to assist with migrations and other disruptive projects.

This role does require both managerial and hands-on duties. You will need to be comfortable both at a strategy/design/configuration level, along with physically working with hardware whether it be maintaining a server or laptop, installing a network switch, etc. Remuneration will be dependent on experience and discussed further during an interview. Given the level of access to our systems and data that this role requires, trust will be a crucial component of the successful applicant, as such thorough background checks will be required, along with entering a Code of Ethics agreement.

 

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

Network Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the company's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance for stability and security.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and resolve connectivity problems.
  • System Administration:
  • Manage company servers and workstations, including operating system updates, software installation, and configuration.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

Desktop Support:

  • Provide technical support to employees for their computers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Install and configure software applications.
  • Assist with password resets and other user issues.

Security:

  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the company's IT infrastructure and data from cyberattacks.
  • Manage user access controls and permissions.
  • Educate employees on cybersecurity best practices.

Vendor Management:

  • Research and evaluate third-party IT support providers for specific needs (e.g., cybersecurity audits, cloud solutions).
  • Manage relationships with chosen vendors and ensure they meet service level agreements.
  • Oversee vendor invoices and payments.

Budgeting and Procurement:

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, including hardware, software, and service costs.
  • Research and procure IT equipment and services, ensuring best value for money.

Project Management:

  • Plan and execute small-scale IT projects, such as system upgrades or new software implementations.
  • Monitor project progress and manage risks.
  • Report on project outcomes to management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest IT trends and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for IT systems and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization about IT issues and initiatives.
  • Be proactive in identifying and mitigating potential IT risks.

Skills & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of networking principles and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching).
  • Experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
  • Proficiency in server administration and maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with security best practices and tools.
  • Expert knowledge of Google GSuite, 
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Cloud services (M365, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a hands-on IT role.
  • Experience working in a similar sized business environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing all aspects of IT infrastructure and support for a small team or department would be a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Additionally:

  • ACS Membership or CISSP certification 
  • Familiarity with Essential Eight Security Guidelines
