Workshop Manager
Reporting to the Head of Insurance and Repairs, this new role is based in Michael Hill’s newly acquired business Jewellery Service Centre in Geebung. The Workshop Manager ensures that the Jeweller team, comprising Jewellers, apprentices and an administration team, is able to meet and exceed all production targets whilst ensuring production is of the highest quality and meets standards set.
More about the opportunity:
- Communicate production expectations to the Jeweller team i.e. Productivity (units per hour) and monitors employees production rates ensuring they are met
- Lead by example ensuring Jewellers comply with existing Repair Jeweller procedures
- Assess team’s daily workload and plans to meet repair turnaround deadlines
- Prioritise and distribute work amongst the Jeweller team
- Monitor and review individual team productivity to ensure they are meeting repair expectations and KPI’s
- Utilise external Contractors when required to complete work to repair turnaround deadlines
- Develop professional long term relationships with contractors and vendors
- Coach jewellers one on one or in groups to demonstrate Best Practice production techniques and technical specifications for specific processes

- Demonstrated technical knowledge in end to end jewellery repairs
- Proven managerial skills in training, coaching, and developing a high performing team
- Demonstrated history of leading with a 'can do' attitude including persistency and urgency in pursuing results
- A strong customer service focus both internally and externally
- Demonstrated ability to meet quality control standards
- Well-developed time management skills, including the ability to manage a range of priorities, respond quickly, meet deadlines and adapt to a changing environment
