The Role
The Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU), part of Explosive Ordnance Branch within Joint Logistics Command, is seeking for an agile and enthusiastic Test Engineer who possesses strong engineering, communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving organisational goals and objectives. Importantly, they will have the ability to develop good relationships and support networks across a wide array of stakeholders.
This role supports explosive and platform test with Test Engineers closely collaborating with the Chief Engineer and TestOfficers. Responsibilities include enhancing test capabilities, designing test equipment, developing test methodologies, and interpreting test standards.
Employment at Port Wakefield and Graytown includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance, $255.36 and $152 respectively per fortnight.
About our Team
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit Test Engineers work within the Joint Proof and Experimental Headquarters in support of guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) test. The Engineering Team comprises the Chief Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineers, Test Engineers, and Technical Officers.
This team directly supports GWEO test including test equipment and specification design, investigating explosives ordnance failure modes and creating test system delivery. The Team plays a crucial role in supporting all operational activities at the two Proof and Experimental Establishments. A significant portion of their responsibilities involves collaborating with the Capability/Logistics team to modernise and maintain test equipment technical integrity.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in engineering research and solution development for a diverse range of explosive test systems. This includes weapons, targets, and support systems. Furthermore, a knowledge in engineering design, test and evaluation activities and measurement practices would be beneficial. An understanding of Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies would be also be advantageous.
Our ideal candidate is an engineer who can adapt their current skill sets to the explosive domain. The successful candidate takes the initiative to achieve quality engineering and test outcomes; focusing on supporting on the management of a critical engineering system, engineering designs, configuration management and the leadership of engineering and technical personnel.
They will be dynamic and keen to continuously improve systems and processes in an effort to ensure that lean methodologies are used by the team and organisation.
The successful candidate will be proficient in the use a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out their work such as Microsoft Office tools, modelling applications and other IT systems.
