Job Description
We are looking for a Junior Estimator/quantity surveyor based in Sydney to join our team. You must have legal working rights in Australia.
Permanent full-time role.
You will be a crucial member of our team to ensure future growth of the company in securing new tenders and building contacts. You will be responsible for leading tendering processes, preparing accurate BOQ and SOWs, and working with foremen and site managers. You may conduct site visits as part of the estimating process.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Lead tendering processes and preparing estimates
- Quote off plans to various builders, getting quotes in on time, and using Excel spreadsheets for ease of calculation
- Liaise with builders/construction companies and build relationships, including clarification of scope and follow up of quotes
- Accurate quoting, including getting cost of materials that are unknown
- Visit job sites and liaise with site foremen
- Develop accurate SOW and BOQs based off plans
- Create new relationships with potential clients in specific areas for painting
- The right candidate will have the opportunity to take on different and varied responsibilities once estimating role is established.
Qualifications & experience
- Previous estimating experience in the building and construction industry is essential (painting is preferred, but not essential)
- Experience using Digital Estimating Software (preferably Bluebeam) is essential
- Ability to read and quote effectively off plans
- An understanding of how a project would be run onsite and any extra requirements
- Excellent computer knowledge including Excel
- Open to learning new systems and processes
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects at once.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain focused under pressure
