Your new role
As an Estimator, your expertise and knowledge in building will be utilised to assist in scoping and costing home insurance claims. The job requires you to apply your skills, methodology, and building knowledge to estimate and evaluate scoping of repair works. Our Junior Estimators will be assisting our Estimating team from the review and evaluation of scopes all the way to preparing detailed scope of repair works.
In these roles you will:
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, labour, and construction administrative costs for residential repairs.
• Reviewing and analyse assessors draft scope of repair works.
• Prepare, write, and format Scope of Works documents, including trade break ups, Prime Cost Schedules, and Building Preliminaries.
• When required, conduct site inspections to examine the damage, record measurements, and capture additional data.
• Ensure estimates are aligned with the repairs and client expectations by collaborating with building consultants.
• Produce competitive and accurate bids by keeping up with industry trends, market conditions and pricing fluctuations.
• Utilise in-house and industry standard software to analyse and produce detailed estimates.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills with all stakeholders.
• Be able to work independently and as a strong team member when required.
• Manage your time effectively and efficiently.
• Be safety and quality focused at all times.
About You
We are looking for a well presented, well organised and a self-motivated individual with hands-on building industry experience or someone who is looking to take their estimating career to the next level.
To succeed in these roles, you’ll have:
• Previous experience in an estimating role - minimum 1 year
• Current drivers’ licence
• Hold a relevant qualification in estimating or relevant trade qualification or currently completing relevant qualification.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• Sound knowledge of National Construction Code (NCC)
• Excellent work ethic
• A willingness to learn and self-motivated attributes.
• Hands-on experience with complex data research activities
• Pass police check
