About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our fast-paced Accent Group Finance Team as a Junior Financial Accountant. This is a full-time permanent role based at our State-of-the-Art Support Office in Cremorne, Victoria.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):
- End of month cycle, including posting journals, preparing balance sheet reconciliations with a focus on retail specific accounts
- Perform analysis of expenditure and be able to provide commentaries for variances between actual and budget, which includes addressing enquiries from both internal and external sources
- Perform analysis and process improvement on retail specific areas such as bank reconciliations
- Identify and explore options and perform cost benefit analysis on banking and financial accounting reconciliation tools
- Supporting wider finance system development projects
- Assist Senior Team members with technical accounting issues issues including impairment models, discounted cashflow forecasts and provision calculations
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger accounts
- Be able to research, understand and interpret accounting standards and apply knowledge on day-to-day workings
- Assist with half-year and year-end audit
- Assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks and reporting
To be successful you will ideally have the following:
- Professionally qualified (e.g., CA, CPA)
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in financial accounting or audit preferably within an ASX-listed company or top/mid-tier audit firm
- Bachelor qualified in accounting, finance, commerce or similar
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent trouble shooting/problem solving abilities whilst working under pressure
- Exceptional organisational and priority setting skills to be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- This role requires attention to detail and a "hands on approach"
- High-level analytical skills, strong communication skills and attention to detail
