About the role
Reporting to the New Product Development Manager this role is a key support to the menu innovation team in the New Product Development (NPD) area of the business. The hands-on position works in our onsite test kitchen and completes essential administrative functions related to NPD and menu innovation.
It is an exciting position with direct exposure and influence into the development of our newest menu items across all brands. The role also includes invaluable exposure to key food industry suppliers that span across several categories from protein, fresh produce, sauces, seasonings to packaging, equipment and consumables.
Key Activities Include:
Product Testing and Demonstration
- Preparation and cooking of products for testing and brand team demonstrations.
- Conduct product, equipment and packaging validations as briefed by the NPD managers.
- Prepare samples for Nutritional and Microbiological testing.
- Provide feedback and reporting to the NPD Managers and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and create documentation related to product & process demonstrations, Product Development testing and validations.
- Ensure all procedures kept on file in the test kitchen are up to date.
- Review and input allergen and nutritional information for publication on brand websites.
- General management and maintenance of the onsite kitchen including stocktakes, ordering, booking cleaning and other ad hoc tasks as required.
Essential
- A true foodie with an appetite to try new methods, recipes, and flavors!
- Tertiary or TAFE qualification in Food Science, Chemistry, or related discipline.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a dedication to process.
- Independent thinking and ability to work autonomously.
- Previous experience in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry not required but desirable.
- Previous Experience in commercial kitchens, food manufacturing, quality assurance or similar positions highly desirable.
