An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Development Technologist to join our Product Development Team at one of Australia's most loved brands, Tip Top Bakeries.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Product Development Manager, you will play a key role in executing the product innovation agenda via the implementation of new ingredients, recipes, processes and technologies that meet the changing needs of consumers. This includes:
- Ensuring new products are delivered to agreed briefs and timings across our bakeries utilising our stage gate system and relevant tools to meet business growth targets.
- Evaluation of new raw materials including all relevant paperwork and documentation
- Designing and testing recipes via sensory & shelf-life evaluations.
- Renovation of current products to ensure they remain relevant and competitive.
- Building strong internal relationships cross functionally and across our bakery network and external relationships with our suppliers to drive the innovation agenda.
- Support the sales team in maintaining strong relationships with our customers.
- Champion nutritional and sustainability initiatives across NPD projects.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Formal baking/technology and/or Food Science/relevant tertiary qualification
- Up to 2+ years' experience working in commercial food manufacturing environments with a focus on bakery; ideally FMCG.
- Good ingredient and bakery process understanding.
- The ability to work autonomously, influence stakeholders and consistently meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel interstate to conduct bakery trials.
- Good working knowledge of FSANZ
- High emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and proactive communication skills
- The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects.
