Position Purpose.
The Junior Site Accountant plays a pivotal role within the finance team, actively contributing to the efficient management and oversight of financial activities tailored to mining operations. Given the collaborative nature of this role with the Site Accountant, strong communication skills with key stakeholders and proficiency in efficient delivery and decision-making processes are crucial.
Key Accountabilities.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports related to mine site operations.
- Cost Analysis: Work closely with the Site Accountant to analyse and monitor costs associated with mining activities, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Data Entry and Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
- Invoice Processing: Collaborate with procurement and vendors to process invoices promptly, verifying accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
- Budget & Forecasting Support: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for mine site operations, providing valuable insights to support financial planning.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts related to mine site activities, identifying and addressing discrepancies.
- Compliance: Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to mine site accounting, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations and procurement, to facilitate
- Fixed Asset Accounting: Management of CWIP, capitalization of completed capital projects and maintenance of accurate Accounting Fixed Asset Register
- Inventory reconciliation/physical verification- Undertake site inventory physical verifications and ensure reconciliation of site inventory with the books.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Necessary:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Preferably 2-3 year’s experience within the mining industry
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. SAP experience is necessary for the role
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
