Key Support Worker - Townsville 
Spinal Life Australia is a not-for-profit organisation passionate in our commitment to rebuilding lives, promoting and celebrating independence, and preventing spinal injuries. Our Personal Support & Home Care Services team support people across Queensland with spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities so that they can live the life they choose.
We are currently looking for an experienced Personal Support Worker to be a Key Support Worker in Townsville with our organisation on a permanent part time contract for approx. 32 hours per fortnight.

Service Delivery
Our Key Support Workers will be providing on-the-job training across a range of activities. From domestic duties, such as, cooking, to activities of daily living including- personal hygiene, dressing, eating and drinking, mobility, bladder and bowel support. You will be proving this training to new PSW's joining one of our client’s team. This is to prepare them for working with our clients, independently. Our Key Support Workers may work with one or several of our clients and they will also provide on-going support, coaching and be mentors to small teams of PSW's across these clients. You may be assisting our clients with their recreational and leisure activities. At Spinal Life Australia we try to ensure that our intrusion into our clients activities is minimal and that their privacy is always respected. Our Key Support Workers and PSW's will work as a team to always maintain high service standards and a positive team dynamic.
  • Deliver quality services that are consistent with the Human Services Quality Standards and the principles and service philosophy of, Spinal Life Australia.
  • Read, understand, action and review Individual Support Plans (ISPs) Resident Hazard Inspections (RHIs) and take direction from the Client Service Officer (CSO).
  • Contribute to the completion of annual performance appraisals for Personal Support Workers in consultation with clients and CSO and address any performance shortfalls.
  • Completes On-the-Job Training Checklists for new PSWs joining the team
  • Utilises computer and smart phone technology to upload all support and training documentation to client and PSW Carelink files in a timely manner
To be a successful candidate we are looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience being a Support Worker
  • Emotionally aware, resilient and responsive to the changing support needs of our clients and the Personal Support Workers in the team
  • Genuine, reliable workers with inherent integrity and respect for individual choice and client confidentiality
  • You will need a current NDIS Workers Screening (QLD) and a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to apply for one.
  • Have a current driver licence and vehicle
  • Own a smartphone (willingness to download our MDM system)
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (receive a certificate on completion)
  • Be capable of doing a physically demanding role - you'll be lifting, bending, carrying, crouching, driving and working in restricted spaces such as shower stalls, bathrooms, and other parts of clients' homes.
