The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor OR Senior Laboratory Technician who is ready to take the next step in their career, to join our NSW team based at our Port Macquarie depot on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the NSW Technical Supervisor, this role is responsible for the supervision of the lab and all testing activities on the mid-north coast.
Working in a small team you will need to be proactive and flexible with working hours. Shift work and living away from home will be required at times.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Supervision of the laboratory technicians and operations to ensure compliance with NATA accreditation
- Successfully formulating, communicating, and implementing sound strategies and plans in relation to technical services and production.
- Review laboratory operations, develop and implement strategies to improve the operation, safety, quality, environmental and financial performance of the laboratory and laboratory services.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained in suitable working order
- Preparation of reports and assessments
- Ensuring the safe operation of equipment
- Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as required
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following essential skills and experience:
- A Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques or be willing to undertake
- Previous supervisor experience and a proactive mindset to drive productivity in the laboratory and its testing staff
- Knowledge of bitumen grades
- Knowledge of raw constituent materials
- Knowledge of asphalt plant production and field compaction placement procedures
- Experience in laboratory testing techniques and procedures relevant to aggregates, asphalt and or fillers
- Knowledge of laboratory set up and calibration requirements
- Methodical and good record keeping skills
- Experience with chemicals
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Ability to work different shift patterns & weekends as required
