Laboratory Technician

Location: Binduli

Roster: 8:6 (Residential Role Only)

The position is responsible for managing shift sample, collect sample and send to external lab. Carry out sample test work. Manage lab items, machine and consumption stuff, Timely supplement. Taking tested samples. Sizing, carbon activity test work and other test work. Support Met and Graduate if required.

Duties

• Collecting, receiving, labelling, and/or analysing samples or substances using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.

• Designing and executing laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings. 

• Recording all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic.)

• Organizing and storing all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.

• Ensuring that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory.

• Maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.

• Cleaning, sterilizing, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment.

• Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.

• Providing technical support, when necessary.

• Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.

• Any other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Current unrestricted "C" Class WA Manual Drivers Licence
• Satisfactory Police Clearance
• Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)

Skills and Experience:

WORK KNOWLEDGE:

• Industry experience in a plant or laboratory (desirable).
• Excellent time management.
• Understanding of the Mines Safety Act and Regulation.
• Understanding of all relevant State and Federal legislation relevant to Mining Operations in Western Australia.
• Good understanding of applicable Health and Safety standards and codes of practice.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

• Good communication and interpersonal skills including liaising with stakeholders and report writing.
• Ability to interact proactively with management and staff at all levels of the organisation in the resolution of issues.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Competent with demonstrated skills in spread sheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications;
• Competent with use of PRONTO (desirable);
• Competent with HSE related software (Chemalert, Cintellate etc).
