Ravenswood Gold is offering environmental graduates an opportunity to commence their career in an exciting, fast-paced and practical work setting. Recent Graduates who have completed their studies in an environmental science (or similar) degree are invited to apply for a 12-month contract as a Graduate Environmental Advisor at Ravenswood Gold Operations. Ravenswood Gold Pty Ltd is the owner and operator of Ravenswood Gold Mine, located approximately 130kms south of Townsville. The mine is a proven producing asset and has transitioned from underground mining to a large scale, low cost open pit mining operation.
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Environment, Approvals and Community (EAC) team in the multi-functional role of Graduate Environmental Advisor.
This position reports to the Environment, Approvals and Community Manager and supports a number of hands-on environmental functions on site. The key focus of this role is to provide environmental support to the site in line with the company’s environmental management plans and regulatory requirements, whilst gaining valuable experience within a large, dynamic team of environmental professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
• Undertaking the Ravenswood Gold Graduate Program
• Provide infield and in-office support to the EAC team.
• Implementing the site environmental monitoring program (including surface, water, groundwater, air quality, treated effluent, potable water, noise and vibration monitoring). This will be initially under instruction with an expectation to progressively be able undertake independently.
• Using and maintaining field-based monitoring equipment
• Recording and compiling data from field instruments and laboratory reports into spreadsheets and databases
• Performing environmental and safety inspections
• Promoting responsible environmental practices within the workplace
• Working in a safe manner to company standards
ABOUT YOU
• A passion to excel as an environmental professional.
• Recent (within 12 months) completion of tertiary studies in Environmental Science (or a similar field).
• A current manual drivers’ licence
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Competency with MS office suite (particularly Excel, Word)
• High level of attention to detail, an ability to interpret data and problem solve.
• Ability to deliver quality work within tight deadlines.
• Ability to undertake field activities in climatic conditions consistent with North Queensland
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong commitment and focus on achieving positive environmental and safety outcomes
Desirable
• Mining placements during degree
• Experience or understanding of GIS software
• 4WD driving experience.
