In partnership with Origin Energy, Veolia established the indigenous Land Management program at the Eraring Power Station in order to remediate the surrounding bushland in NSW’s Hunter region. Our traineeship programme is managed by Veolia were the trainees are involved with the construction and operation of an on-site nursery. In our nursery, native seedlings will be propagated and planted to aid in restoring the area’s native biodiversity as part of connection to Country, as well as regenerating the bushfire-affected land to encourage the improved well being of wildlife.
Gain a Certificate 3 in On-Country Land Management (Indigenous) with this Traineeship, which is designed to provide practical training and experience to Indigenous individuals in various aspects of Land Management within their traditional lands. This position aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage and maintain Indigenous lands, while promoting cultural preservation, sustainable practices, and community engagement.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of Land Management plans, including the identification and assessment of land use opportunities and constraints
- Participate in the maintenance and improvement of country land, such as fencing, weed control, erosion prevention, and re-vegetation projects
- Support the monitoring and assessment of land condition, water quality, and biodiversity to identify potential issues and inform Land Management decisions
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of pest and wildlife management programs, including monitoring, trapping, and control measures
- Collaborate with landowners, community groups, and government agencies to promote sustainable Land Management practices and provide educational resources
- Support the development and delivery of Land Management workshops, training sessions, and community engagement activities
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of data related to Land Management practices, ensuring accurate and reliable reporting
- Follow all relevant health and safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in Land Management practices
The successful candidate will:
- High School Certificate
- Motivated with a genuine interest in land care and conservation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle .
