About the RoleNo two cases, or two days, are the same. You will have exposure from day one to fast-paced litigation, alternative dispute resolution, client conferences and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our matters moving.Working within our close-knit, supportive practice you will have the opportunity to live our core values of authenticity and connection, while making a real, measurable difference to our clients and their families.
Responsibilities- Providing detailed family law advice to clients by way of phone, written correspondence and in conference
- Analysing financial discovery
- Drafting court documents, Binding Financial Agreements, Child Support Agreements and settlement documents
- Appearing at administrative court events and conferences on behalf of clients
- Instructing counsel during court hearings, mediations and conferences
- Engaging barristers, third party valuers, financial advisors and therapeutic professionals
- Preparing briefs to counsel
- Collaborating with senior practitioners when advising clients and managing client files
- Corresponding with opposing solicitors
- Delegating work and providing instructions to junior lawyers, paralegals and administrative support
- Supporting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
- Retaining & building referrer relationships
About You- Successful candidates must have a current practicing certificate for Queensland
- Suitable candidates will bring have between 2-5 years post-admission experience gained within family law
- Demonstrate critical reasoning and analytical skills with the ability to think laterally
- Strong legal drafting ability
- Effective and timely file management and billing ability
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particularly the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholders
- Good influencing and negotiation capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deliverables
- Proven ability to facilitate presentations and meetings with varying sizes of groups of people
- The ability to challenge the status quo and offer practical solutions
