About the role and team
We have opportunities for experienced insurance or government Lawyers and/or Senior Associates to join our market leading General Insurance practice in Melbourne.
These roles will predominantly involve handling the defence of Public Liability (personal injury) claims.
The General Insurance team advises on and manages a diverse portfolio of claims for many Australian and international insurers and underwriters (including Lloyds of London syndicates), Government departments and public sector entities and self-insured corporations. Our team routinely handles claims that are complex, technically challenging and high profile. Our team in Melbourne has approximately 45 people and is part of our national General Insurance practice - a collaborative, collegiate, high-performing and fun team.
Skills and experience
We are keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- a minimum of 2 years of post-admission experience in defendant or plaintiff insurance law;
- experience dealing with personal injury and Public Liability claims;
- experience within government, or working on large coronial matters, is not essential but will be highly regarded;
- strong technical ability and attention to detail; and
- strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
