The Position
An exciting opportunity has developed working with our fantastic partners and team, for an experienced Lawyer (Associate Level) with developed Building and Construction Law experience to join our successful and growing team.
We offer work as a ‘whole project’ approach, providing expert legal advice from inception to delivery and completion amongst other great offerings.
The position is based in our stunning Sydney CBD office which boasts glass walls allowing ample natural light, impressive board, and meetings rooms, lots of break out spaces, open plan seating and hybrid working arrangements.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have technical skills including:
- Strong Building and Construction litigation law experience;
- Exposure to Property and construction disputes;
- Ability to work on both front-end and back-end building and construction matters;
- Experience with Construction agreements, Contract Reviews and negotiations – draft amendment standard forms, documents and administration letters.
- Providing advice to builders, developers, homeowners, principals, contractors, service providers and owners corporations regarding statutory warranties and the duty of care of design and building practitioners;
- Ability to develop extension of time claims, variations, delayed damages claims, liquidated damages claims and all aspects of dispute resolution;
- Dealing with contract disputes, contract warranty claims, enforcement options for SOP Act matters and everything else that comes with the completion of the project;
- Advise some of Australia’s top developers, project home builders, principals, contractors and service providers on projects including major infrastructure projects, residential and mixed use, child-care centres, hotels and commercial developments;
- Attend to alternative dispute resolution matters; and
- Experience with tribunal/court resolutions - leading and coordinating a panel of pre-eminent expert witnesses and barristers;
- Attend Tribunals, Local, District, Supreme Courts and Court of Appeal.
In addition, you will possess:
- A current practising certificate with 4-5 years’ post qualified experience in Building & Construction Law;
- A minimum of 4-5 years’ post admission experience in Building & Construction Law, working in a law firm.
