An opportunity now exists for a Lead Geometric Roads Designer who will be responsible for leading the geometric design production on assigned Jacobs’ roads, highways and related civil projects within the Roads & Highways (R&H) section. You will be able to lead a team of road designers on assigned major projects and able to work independently on medium scale projects where applicable.
The Lead Roads Designer is client facing and provides support to the engineering team to develop suitable road alignment options and solutions for assigned projects. Currently Jacobs utilise a range of geometric road design software, including 12d, MX, OpenRoads and Civil 3D. This position is focused on a designer whose primary skills and experience have been developed around either the 12d or OpenRoads modelling platforms (which in the case of 12d may include utilities and drainage design in addition to geometric design). Additional training is available to upskill designers to OpenRoads. #APMETransport #LI-NN1 Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Significant knowledge of geometric modelling methods, applicable codes (AustRoads in particular) and specifications associated with road and highway infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of Transport for NSW and AustRoads design standards, including geometric design, barrier design, pavement and line marking design.
- Experience with various aspects of the design process, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects including but not limited to roads geometry, drainage, ITS and electrical, structures, noise walls and pavements.
- Working understanding of design and drafting software packages including but not limited to AutoCAD, MX, OpenRoads, 12d and Civil 3D.
- Experience in delivering D&C and Alliances not essential but highly regarded.
