Eden Ritchie is seeking a Lead Developer AI who will be joining a team working at the cutting edge of AI in the public sector, using new and emerging LLMOps toolkits and technologies on Queensland Government’s centralised AI Platform. The team is responsible for ensuring the effective and safe adoption of AI technologies to enhance service delivery and drive innovation within the public sector.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud and AI technologies and their potential applications in government.

As the Lead Developer AI, your key responsibilities will include:
- Work with team members responsible for product development, enhancements and support to the Whole of Government AI platform and web applications.
- Developing new and innovative AI applications and products for the Queensland Government.
- Collaborate in a team using Agile methodologies to help create new features and improve digital customer services for Queensland Government agencies.
- Work in a team to ensure a collaborative culture that fosters product-centric mindset, constantly iterating and improving to deliver quality digital products and services.
- Ensure that all operations, processes and practices operate within all relevant legislative and government standards.
- Be available to be on call and/or undertake after-hours work as required for support and during key project stages.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- React and TypeScript Proficiency: Advanced skills in React, including hooks, state management, and TypeScript for type-safe, scalable web application development.
- Node.js Expertise: Strong experience in Node.js, especially in integrating with Azure services and building server-side logic for web applications.
- Experience with Cosmos DB: Knowledge in working with Cosmos DB for data modelling, query optimisation, and leveraging its global distribution and multi-model capabilities.
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD Skills: Proficiency in Azure DevOps for project management and repository management, combined with experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. This includes integrating automated testing and deployment strategies for rapid and reliable code deployment.
- Experience with Azure AI and OpenAI Services: Familiarity with Azure AI services, including Azure Search (Cognitive Search), and ideally experience with OpenAI's offerings or other LLMs. This skill is crucial for projects involving advanced AI and machine learning integrations.
- Bicep for Infrastructure as Code: Strong understanding of Bicep for efficiently managing Azure resources, focusing on maintainable and reusable code for infrastructure.
- API Management Expertise: Skills in Azure API Management for designing, implementing, and securing APIs, including performance monitoring and secure access management.
- A strong understanding and experience in .NET, .NET Core, C#, REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, SQL/NoSQL, Webservices and related technologies.
- Enterprise Security Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of enterprise security practices, including secure coding, authentication protocols like OAuth and OpenID Connect, and familiarity with Azure security tools.
- Unit Testing and Test Automation: Proficiency in writing unit tests and using test automation frameworks to ensure the quality and robustness of the code.
