ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to establish the standards for DevOps practice across ABC Digital Product, helping to create repeatable processes, reusable deployment systems and robust services for the ABC's Online Services across a variety of platforms including web and mobile.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and develop a team of 7 engineers in a matrix structure, embedded in Digital Product teams. Design and provisioning continuous integration and continuous deployment services for the development of digital products and services.
- Work closely with engineering management to establish, document and promote DevOps standards including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, continuous deployment pipelines.
- Collaborate with product engineering teams including DevOps Engineers and Developers to advocate for continuous improvement to services including coverage of monitoring and performance metrics to ensure continued ability to deliver ABC services to our audience.
- Lead the automation of Digital Products Platforms including the deployment of cloud-based infrastructure, testing and code deployment. Work with the Product Engineering team to identify opportunities for the DevOps team to improve efficiency and support product strategy through adoption of automated processes.
- Collaborate with peers in Site Relibaility Engineering (SRE) and Platform Operations (Ops) to continuously improve the ABC's DevOps practice and continuously improve reliability and quality.
- Maintain detailed technical knowledge of digital systems and services, including an understanding of business usage. Lead the development and maintenance of technical standards and support documentation.
Extensive experience leading and developing teams of DevOps engineers focused on building and deploying cloud-based services. Demonstrated experience establishing and promoting best practice for creating secure, reliable build and deployment services.
Extensive experience in the development of efficient and repeatable Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment services for building and deploying software. Extensive experience developing infrastructure as code and supporting documentation for processes and standards.
Extensive experience in the support of cloud-based services including Amazon Web Services (AWS) based platforms. Previous experience in supporting Linux based environments is highly desirable. Experience with common cloud operations tools such as Datadog, Ansible, New Relic, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Nexus, Maven or Jenkins is highly desirable. Experience supporting products delivered using content distribution network (CDN) services such as Akamai or Fastly for the delivery web sites, API's and Streaming Media is highly desirable
Highly advanced communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels in an Agile team environment.
