About the Role
We are currently seeking a Lead Distribution Designer/Engineer to support our team located in Perth. In the role you will manage the production of project deliverables through a robust checking process but must also develop drawing office technical standards as per end client requirements, mentor and train the designers and, when work dictates, support the actual delivery of the projects. Reporting to the Manager (WA Distribution), your key duties will include but will not be limited to:
- Develop designs, deliverables and resource schedule for overhead and underground projects
- Preparation and checking of feasibility studies, outline and detailed design technical reports and other written documents
- Design and checking of detail construction design drawings
- Production of design concepts, drawings, specifications and other technical documents
- Regular contact with WA based Utility clients (Western Power, Horizon Power, BHP, Rio Tinto, DoT)
- Leading and coaching graduate and junior engineers
- Assist Manager (WA Distribution) for managing resources
- Delivering overhead lines engineering including PnW modelling, conductor selection, construction drawings and supporting documentation
Requirements
- Engineer - Minimum BEng / Bsc in Electrical Engineering with power / utility background with CPENG or on the pathway of obtaining CPENG
- Designer – Minimum 10 years utility experience or similar background
- Leadership experience desired
- Must have experience of scope, specification, designs, calculations, reports and drawings associated with the new or modification of distribution projects from 0.240kV – 33kV (overhead and underground)
- Must have a power engineering background and have good client communication skills
- Must be proactive, mature enough to operate in a culturally diverse team and work without micro level supervision
