On the back of winning the specialty track in the 2023 AcceliCity, the company is gearing for an exciting product launch of our new EnPhytobox technology.

With offices in both Perth, Tasmania and Rotorua, Syrinx is at the forefront of sustainability, restoration ecology and green infrastructure design nationally.

We are currently growing our Perth office and are looking to appoint a motivated and exceptional individual to join our team in the role of LeadEngineer- Water and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The ideal candidate will have a passion for environment, enthusiasm for delivering high quality work and an interest in growth and long-term outlook within the company.

JOB OUTLINE
We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer- Water and Nature-BasedSolutions (NBS) with a passion for NBS in the water environment and an ability to convert that passion into effective, progressive and sustainable designs. You will drive or provide technical input with the delivery of a diverse range of tasks in a multidisciplinary team, including landscape architects and ecological designers.

You will also use your existing networks to help develop and grow the business.

RESPONSIBILITES:
• Taking the role of technical lead on nature-based solution projects and design of various water related systems and infrastructure such as rainwater harvesting systems, storm water treatment systems, alternative water supply infrastructure and passive wastewater treatment technologies.
• Modelling system performance and designing civil and hydraulic components.
• Preparation of engineering drawings, specification and costs estimates.
• Managing contract documentation, material procurement and contract administration.
• Preparation of bids and pricing of works.
• Preparation of contract documentation and tendering of physical works.
• Provision of technical inputs/advice to all project teams in the company; internal technical reviews of, and verification checks on, analyses, reports modelling and designs.
• Driving thought leadership, technical best practice and knowledge sharing; supporting and mentoring early careers colleagues.


REQUIREMENTS / SELECTION CRITERIA
The selected candidate will possess:
• Relevant Tertiary qualifications with minimum 8 years extensive consulting or professional services experience with a focus in design and delivery of nature-based solutions, water resource management, design and planning of alternative water/ wastewater treatment and reuse systems, hydrology and hydraulics, and water quality assessment.
• Experience with preliminary design, detailed design, construction and commissioning of water systems.
• Deep understanding of nature-based solutions principles and standards, measurement and verification, including knowledge of the AU context and market drivers and environmental markets.
• Proficiency in water balance, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and assessment techniques, Microsoft Excel, and a working knowledge of GIS systems.
• Proven experience with engineering drawing (AutoCAD) and experience with 3D design software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D.
• Demonstrated experience in lateral thinking, problem solving, application of scientific engineering principles, particularly within the context of integrated sustainable infrastructure design.
• Significant experience in engaging with senior decision makers in government and the private sector 
• Demonstrated high level communication skills including oral communication, report writing and written presentation skills.
• Proven experience in project management, tender preparation, costing and contract administration.
• Australian Citizen or Permanent Residency status in Australia.
