The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Perth team for a self-sufficient and motivated Lead Mechanical Designer. The Lead Mechanical Designer will use strategic business knowledge, technical knowledge and experience to be an integral part of the execution of technical projects and the continuous development of tools and systems which create opportunities for projects within the resources sector.

You’ll be an essential part of the leadership team working to drive performance, standards and deliverables that continually raise the bar for the company’s already formidable reputation.

You will be responsible for taking designs from concept to completed engineering deliverables. Providing technical leadership and advice to your team and ensure tasks, activities and deliverables are within budget and schedule along with developing strong relationships with the client and key project stakeholders.

About you
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with a passion for discovery and a commitment to workplace wellbeing and safety. As part of a small, tight-knit team, strong relationship building, and communication skills will be critical in this role.

Skills and experience

  • Qualification in Engineering and 7+ years of Multidisciplinary Design experience in the mining and resources sector.
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards.
  • Strong design experience with the capability to produce sound designs, with practical experience working in construction, commissioning and/or operations in the bulk materials and minerals processing industries being advantageous.
  • Experience across varied types of commodities from nickel through to iron ore.
  • Good presentation and communication skills at all levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry safety and environmental standards.
