About the role
As our next Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to proudly represent our Maintenance Team, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. Like all of us at Thiess, you’re a passionate and energetic person, that appreciates responsibility, recognition and reward.
Thiess is seeking experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter for our exciting new project located on Groote Eylandt on a rotating 7/7 day night roster.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the performance of servicing, repair and maintenance of fleet on site.
- Lead a maintenance crew following directives of managers and supervisors.
- Coach and mentor crew members to safely and efficiently execute maintenance tasks.
- Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, and computer-based systems.
- Assist crew to effectively meet daily safety, equipment reliability and maintenance compliance to plan targets for the project.
- Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel.
- Source and requisition parts and / or equipment requirements through the appropriate manuals or publications using the correct ordering procedure.
- Verify the implementation of solutions and/or control further non-conforming machinery until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
About you
- Trade Qualified Plant Mechanic Certificate III Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Mobile Equipment) or similar
- Post-trade experience working in the Mining or Heavy Earth Moving industry
- Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component changeouts and servicing of Heavy Earthmoving equipment
- Demonstrated experience with Liebherr and CAT large earthmoving equipment
