Leading Hand Fitter

Established in 1993, PYBAR, A Metarock Company, has grown to become one of Australia's largest underground hard rock mining contractors operating in multiple states of Australia with a track record in securing repeat business. 

Due to operational growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Leading Hand Fitter to join the team at Maxwell, NSW! Being a full-time position, this opportunity is a FIFO, DIDO or residential position and ready for an immediate start.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand Fitter to join our team at our Maxwell project on a 14/14 roster. In order to be considered for the role you will need to demonstrate current or recent experience in a fitter or Leading Hand role and a number of years’ experience working on a variety of underground mining equipment.

Your Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• To oversee the day-to-day operation of shift workers and equipment usage at an underground mine site 
• Ensure targets are met 
• To ensure all workers on shift are trained and competent to perform their duties safely and productively at all times 
• Perform the daily management, control and supervision of the working areas in accordance with all relevant Acts and Regulations 
• Organise crews, rosters and day to day running of that particular site 
• Conduct daily work planning meetings / toolbox meetings 
• Submit incident reports in writing to the Site Foreman
• Carry out crew training, practical assessments and review each employee's development, mentoring and performance 

What you’ll need to succeed

• Trade Qualifications (Essential) – Diesel Fitter
• Previous Leading Hand experience or proven leadership experience
• Previous mining or UG mining experience
• Experience with CAT, Sandvik and Volvo equipment will be an advantage
• Maintenance and service experience
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• A positive can-do attitude with the ability to work as part of a team
• A strong focus on safety
• Hold a current Australian Drivers License
• Hold or be willing to obtain a current National Police Clearance.
